The season is starting to come around for Carl Renezeder as he left the new track in Chula Vista with 2 wins in the Pro-2 truck division out of 3 races. The Weismann underdrive performed flawlessly again as Carl battled veteran driver Rob MacCachren for the lead before Rob's truck succumbed to transmission woes and freed Carl to cruise home to the checkered flag in the Baldwin Memorial Cup on Saturday.
The first Pro-2 class race of the weekend was a disaster for Carl as contact with a fellow racer left the truck wounded and he had to settle for 6th.
On Sunday for Round 6, Carl chose to take the more cautious route and ran a non-confrontational 6th place going into the mandatory yellow flag. Once the green flag dropped, Carl passed 4 trucks in front of him in 4 laps, and was then hounding race leader Ricky Johnson. The pair swapped the lead 3 times over the next two laps, then Carl made a thrilling pass on the final turn to take the win!
