Rick Huseman has been so close for so long and it was clear he was getting desperate to get the winless monkey off his back. Unfortunately for Rick, offroad racing has been particularly tough on him every time he was in great position to win. However this time, when the fat lady sung, Rick was in first place when the checkered flag fell!
Many times in the past Rick had the fastest truck in the field and won pole, but in the races he sometimes went backwards. It seemed the harder he tried, the worse it got. A couple of times we coached him to just cruise around in 2nd or 3rd until the mandatory yellow flag comes out, then start racing to win when the green flag drops again. It was clear he had the speed, he just needed some luck and he needed an undamaged truck to fight with.
Well this race he was on the pole, and after the green flag waved, he let Johnny Greaves run out front while trucks rolled , flipped and collided around him. Rick held onto 2nd until the yellow came out. when the flag dropped, Johnny got a good start, but then Carl rolled his truck and the yellow came back out.
Carl got rolled over and rejoined at the back of the field. The green flag waved again and this time Rick was all over Johnny pushing him hard. Entering turn one with three laps to go, Johnny uncharacteristically buckled under the pressure and rolled his truck over the K rail. Rick slipped thru into the lead and kept his Weismann 4x4 driven truck on the track for the remaining 3 laps to take his first ever Pro-4 win!

went over the wall, I thought drive nice, calm and slow, the track was so fast I
just held on,” said Rick Huseman.
