Keith Lynn and Roger Gordon have done it again. They have won the AMA/Prostar Funny Bike Championship after dominating the weekend! Keith qualified quickest with a near record at 6.468 sec, and the fastest pass at 204.57 mph. On that pass he went 4.13 in the 1/8 and carried the front end through the traps!
"It was a very good race weekend. We were just a hundredth of a sec off the World Record on Friday night, and on Sunday night the conditions were the same, so we went for it again. But we had chunked two tires over the weekend and we had to change the tire before the final round. We had been setting 1.05 1.06 60' times all weekend, but in that last round we set a 1.12 60' time. Just not enough down low." - recalled crew chief Roger Gordon.
Runner-up in the final round was fellow Weismann transmission user Travis Davis. Travis' Suzuki qualified 3rd for the eliminations. Travis picked off 2nd place qualifier Mike Coulson in the semi final round to go against Keith's Kawasaki. But Keith was not to be denied this weekend. Keith had Travis beat at the lights with a .055 RT to Travis' .093 RT. Keith smoked the back half of the track to a blistering 6.51 sec pass at 208.97 mph while Travis flew through the traps at a 6.635 sec pass at 205.01 mph!
Asked Roger if Keith was scared as he went through the traps at over 200 mph into the darkness and he said, "Nah, he's got his eyes closed most of the time anyway!" Keith added that he felt that if he had tucked in a little tighter he would have gone quicker still.
