J.D. Byrider wins double header in Orange Beach!

August 17, 2007

In a double header weekend where three racing organizations came together in Orange Beach, Al., Tony Marcantonio and Mark Kowalski flew their outlawed cat to overall wins in both races!

Sea conditions were extremely rough and everyone had to work hard to keep their boats upright all weekend. The Weismann driven cat of J.D.Byrider works exceptionally well in the rough waters and had everybody shaking their head's wondering what they had to do to beat them!

Tony and Mark had finished in first place in their race, but instead of pulling off they decided to continue racing and see if they could catch the 850 hp class boats which had started the race a minute ahead of their 750 hp class! During the next two laps, the JD cat was able to run down, pass and leave behind 850 hp boats like CRC and Hooters!

After the race, a Merc rep was overheard angrily asking Tony Marcantonio, "Just what were you trying to prove?!" Well the answer is obvious, isn't it?!

Both Reliable and Nichols had trouble trying to keep the pace of JD Byrider.  In the end they pushed too hard and Reliable ended their race upside down and Nichols stuffed their cat ripping apart the leading edge of the tunnel.

JD in the second race hunting down the CMS cat...

..and then leaving CMS behind.

Airing it out.

Visible in the shot above is one of Pat Weismann's suggestions to the team to make the boat work better - Can you figure out what it is?

All of these awesome shots were taken by Ned Dawson. He has many more exceptional shots of  this race at his website www.H2Ofullthrottle.com
