AVR's Desert Storm!

Apr 26, 2009

Lake Havasu hosted Pacific Offshore's "Desert Storm" event, the first venue of the 2009 Season this past weekend. All kinds of boats ranging from 165 mph Supercats with 1200 hp blown engines, to little 75 mph outboard vee bottoms squared up to compete against each other under the blistering hot sun to race for 10 laps around the crystal clear lake.

And it was Captain Dave Kutcher and Todd Peterson who piloted the sleek 650 hp Weismann Marine prepared AVR vee bottom out front of the whole field boat. Amazingly the vastly under powered but highly efficient AVR vee led for almost two laps before eventually being passed by the CRC Supercat down the back stretch.

The superior handling and acceleration of the AVR's "Shifts Happen" vee are key adavantages to it's performance and the CRC crew knew the only way to keep it behind was to cut it off going into turn 3 and force it outside.

With a few laps to go, the Who's Racing vee bottom rolled over going into turn one too hot and miraculously ejected it's two pilots safely out of the boat. The vee ended upright, but the race was temporarily red flagged. This vee runs our Drysump #6 drives too.

After the cleanup, the AVR vee and the rest of the field lined up again for the restart. And again, Dave and Todd rocketed out front and the CRC had to haul them back in again.

And Dave and Todd held their own after that, airing it out and driving away from the rest of the field to secure first in Class and second overall!

According to pre-race bragging, Troy Juve and his "In the Red" Skater was going to whoop Dave's ass all over the place. But even with the help of Weismann Drysump #6's, Troy couldn't catch the hard banking AVR vee and had to settle for 3rd place overall and second in class !
