Competing in the SCCA Northern Pacific division, Steve Hoke's immaculate Camero easily dominated the opposition for the 6th time this season. The Weismann equipped GT1 has been racing with our "IMSA" or "Shuttle" transmission for 16 races now with no problems.
"I
absolutely love my trans, and I can't understand why everybody is not running
one", exclaimed Steve.
At one point, everyone that ran fast in Trans-Am or in GTO, GT1 ran our "IMSA"
box.
Before Roush quit endurance racing and trans-am, they had won 10 out of 11 24 Daytona races with our trans, plus a number of championships. Then our competitors began entering our little markets and offered deals we couldn't keep up with. Eventhough the competition transmission was not rated for the power, it cost more, shifted on the countershaft, was wet sumped, weighed more, had less ratios, had the "drop gears" in the front of the box, was less realiable, shifted slower, etc...; it was smaller. In other words,"... ours looks heavier."
