Introducing WAG

Electric Transaxle

for Concept Cars

The WAG was engineered and manufactured in 4 weeks from scratch for the company Aria Group to power their customer's concept cars on and off stage and for photo shoots.  The WAG is designed to sit in a subframe, and can be used to drive the front or rear wheels or all 4. The WAG has an Advanced 120 vdc Electric Motor, producing 65 peak hp using a 500 amp motor controller, and 19 hp continuous on 190 amps.

Ford Reflex

The WAG was initially geared to go as slow as 25 mph, but the quick change spur gears enables the user to chose a higher end top speed. The transaxle is currently a single speed, but there is the possibility to add a 2 or 3 speed computer controlled Weismann Quickshift Transmission to dramatically improve performance and efficiency.

The WAG has two inboard brakes so that the outboard show brake rotors don't get scored. These can be removed to utilize a conventional brake setup. The output joints are modified stock tripods, but other joints like Lobro CVs can be used if the user desires. The WAG also comes with a stock open diff that was modified to work with our design. For performance reasons, the Weismann Locker would be the diff of choice.

Mitsubishi CT

The transaxle was designed for vehicle weight up to 5000 lbs. The current WAG's tight packaging was the requirement of the Aria Group. However due to the billet housing design, custom packaging of the input vs. output can be done. Longer motors can be packaged with a simple tube spacer, larger motors might require a modified package design.

Kia Soul

Aria Group's simple electric driven platform enables Car companies to debut working concept prototypes for the Detroit Auto show each year. For the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, Aria built the Ford Reflex, The Mitsubishi CT, and the Kia Soul.

For 2007, the Mazda Nagare, Nissan Bevel, and the Kia Kue were also built on this platform. In a spy shot of the right rear corner, you can see the shiny housing around the Final Drive.
