(Oct.
3rd, 2004 ~ Memphis,Tn)
Travis Davis
has the competition singing the Blues!
After
qualifying a lowly 7th place, Travis had to get his new Funny
Bike working if he was going to have any chance of winning the
championship. Round after round, as Travis picked off each competitor,
he closed the gap to the #1 qualifier and championship rival,
Korry Hogan.
Korry
had been plagued all year with transmission problems and this
weekend was no exception. After blowing up an engine on saturday,
he put the second engine in only to find out his transmission
would not go into gear. He then had to break apart both engines
to swap out transmissions.
In
the final round it came down to Travis and Korry. As they came
to the staging lines. Korry's transmission would not go into gear
and Travis rolled back to give Korry a chance to get into gear.
After stomping on the shifter several times, it finally went into
gear and the pair entered the staging lines.
Korry
left first with a reaction time of .040 seconds, Travis had a
reaction time of .064 seconds. They both had identical 60' and
330' times, then Travis ran Korry down and powered past him to
beat him with the quickest pass of the weekend - 6.648 seconds
at 204.08 mph! Korry was about a 1/2 bike behind at a 6.712 seconds
pass at 196.7 mph.

(Oct.
3rd, 2004 ~ English Town, N.J.)
Shaun Carlson
can't get a break from engine breaks!
Engine
woes continue to cost Shaun Carlson's Pro Fwd Neon victory. After
qualifying with 3 passes with a few hundredths of a second from
each other, the car looked strong to win it's first event of the
season. But a reoccuring engine problem reared it's ugly head
in Shaun's semi-final round bye pass and Shaun was not able to
make it to the lanes for the final.
Shaun
best pass to date was in the second round of qualifying - a 7.67
second pass at 186 mph.

(Sept.
26th, 2004 ~ Crandon, Mi.)
Lew
Larimer Wins His First SCCA National Championship!
After
setting a new track record in qualifying, Lew lead from the pole
and dominated the SCCA Runoffs GT-1 field with a 23.14 second
win, averaging 92.444 mph.
"I
thought that the car was good so I just went and ran for it," Larimer said. "I didn't expect
to win by that much. We went fast because we were ready to run
fast. I backed off a little bit three of four laps from the end
and hoped that nothing would go wrong with the car."

(Sept.
19th, 2004 ~ New Berlin, N.Y.)
Jason
Baldwin Wins His First Pro-4 Championship!
Jason
did exactly what he had to do to win the championship. He was
the most consistant points scorer of the season. Out of 14 races,
he won 3, finished 2nd five times, and finished 3rd three times.
He only finished once out of the top 4 for the whole season! Great
finishes combined with zero failures gave him the combination
to win his first championship in style - by winning the last round.
Out
of the top 6 finishers in the Pro-4 Championship, 5 of them run
Weismann transmissions and transfer cases. In total we had 10
wins, 10 seconds, and 10 thirds!

(Sept.
5th, 2004 ~ Crandon, Mi.)
Johnny
Greaves Wins Prized BorgWarner Trophy!
Johnny
Greaves became the 8th driver in the 10 year history of the World
Championship BorgWarner Shoot-out to claim the coveted trophy.
Curt LeDuc finished second.
In round 12, Jason Baldwin won for the second time this year.
Scott Douglas finished 3rd and Greaves pulled off the track on
the first lap with ignition failure but still holds a narrow lead
in the championship.

(June
4th-6th, 2004 ~ Baja, Mexico)
Weismann Semi-Auto
wins Baja 500 again!
Troy Herbst and
Larry Roeseler most of the way through the grueling 500 mile rae,
only to lose the race in the last couple of hours to the trophy
truck of Alan Pfluoger.
TOP
2 OVERALL FINISHERS
1. Alan Pflueger, Honolulu, Chevy Silverado, SCORE Trophy, 9 hour,

(Aug.
15th, 2004 ~ Bark River, Mi.)
Curt
Le Duc Finally Win His First Race Of The Year!
In
Round 10, Curt LeDuc and Scott Douglas pulled away from the rest
of the field, made contact on the last lap and spup each other
out, but it was LeDuc who would take his first win of the year.
Douglas second-place finish was his 6th top-five finish
in ten starts.
In
Round 9, Carl Renezeder earned his first win since Round 1 by
holding off current division leader Johnny Greaves. pulled away
on the final lap when Greaves had to serve a black flag penalty.
Josh Baldwin finished third in Round 9, his best finish of the
2004 season.
Johnny Greaves leads Renezeder 152 to 143. Third is Jason Baldwin
with 142 points.

(July
31th-Aug. 1st, 2004 ~ Milwaukee, Wi.)
Nigel Hook wins
back to back races!
After a string
of 2nd and 3rds, a 1st place taken away, trash plugging up a water
intake on the way out of the harbor, and myriad other little problems,
Nigel's bad luck ran out - well almost. Nigel and Nick Pavlichek
had a skeg ripped off by some debri and it damaged a prop on the
seventh lap of the 14th lap race on sunday.
But this was
Nigel and Nick's weekend, and they won their first national wins
of the year in the best possible way - leading flag to flag!
The Lucas Oil vee
was running just perfect. #18 Donzi was trying to catch him in
the corners but Lucas just out powered him in the straights and
took the checkered flag.
-hp500efi
The first
couple laps we were tight and on two laps we almost touched, said Scot Conrad, driver for
the #18 Donzi.
Am I scared?
Yeah, Im getting scared
They had us covered both days and we raced as
hard as we could to get ahead of him on the first lap, but they
got us. Then we spent our time trying to catch them. I dont
know if it will be any different in Washington, I dont know
if well be able to find the speed on these shorter courses.
We have good acceleration but not top end speed, so were
concerned for Washington but we are definitely looking forward
to Orange Beach. Im glad for them, they worked hard.

(July 11th, 2004
~ Topeka, Ks.)
Johnny Greaves
leads the way through 8 rounds!
The Lucas Oil
Heartland Park Topeka Off-Road Championships held Rounds 6 through
8 in the 2004 Pro-4 Series. After Round 8 was completed, one truck
stood in first place, Johnny Greaves' Pro-4.
Johnny came into
Round 6 after sweeping Rounds 4 and 5, and his winning streak
quickly went to four with victories in Rounds 6 and 7.
Jason Baldwin
was the only driver who kept Greaves from winning his fifth consecutive
race. Greaves received a black flag penalty early in the race,
then moved back to the front, but Baldwin narrowily beat Greaves
on the final lap.

Greaves has a
124, a 4 point lead over Jason Baldwin, Scott Douglas and Curt
LeDuc are tied in 4th place with 99 points each.

(June 27th, 2004 ~ Crandon, Wi.)
Johnny Greaves
led every lap in Rounds 4 and 5
Nobody even came
close to catching Johnny as he drove away from the field twice,
vaulting him from 7th place to 4th with 68 points.

Jason Baldwin
had a third straight second-place finish in Round 4, and a 4th
place finish in Round 5, giving him lead in the Pro-4 Championship.
After two straight
wins, Scott Douglas Ford finished 9th in Round 4, then finished
in 3rd place in Round 5. Douglas is in third place after the first
five rounds with 70 points, only four behind Baldwin. Curt Le
Duc has 64 points in fifth place.

(June 13th, 2004
~ Antigo, Wi.)
Douglas wins
2 out of 3 Rounds to lead championship!
The Langlade
County Fairgrounds hosted the first three rounds in the 2004 CORR
Lucas Oil Pro-4 Series.
Scott Douglas
followed up a 7th place finish in Round 1 with back to back victories
in Rounds 2 and 3. In Round 2, Douglas had a front row start,
and he held the lead from start to finish.
Douglas was battling
with Curt LeDuc in Round 3 before taking the lead with three laps
remaining and never looked back taking his 5th win in 7 races
at Antigo.
Douglas opened
the 2004 season with a 49 points, a slim 3 point lead over Jason
Baldwin.

(May
14th-15th, 2004 ~ Marathon, Fl.)
Nigel Hook's
"Weismann-ized" Scarab!
Running
three wide into the first turn and on the outside was #7 Lucas
Oil driven by Nigel Hook and Nick Pavlicheck. Just behind them
was the rookie team of Michael Flanigan and Alan Green in the
#59 Donzi.
"I
could see the eyes of the #59 Donzi throttleman Michael Flanigan,
as they ran right into us from starboard rear side", said Nick the #7 Lucas
Oil. The ram from behind knocked Lucas Oil into third place, and
the lead pack rounded the first two left-hand corners in tight
procession.
Heading
into the first right-hand corner, turn #3, again the Michael and
Alan pair tried to challenge to the #7 Lucas Oil by cutting inside
only to spin out of control. The Donzi eventually retired from
the race and were penalized for their driving maneuvers by the
Chief Referee!
"Once
we got clobbered from behind and with the two quickest boats in
the class on the inside lanes, third was actually not a bad place
to be,"
commented Nigel "We
fought hard to make up ground so we could have a chance to pass
for second and first place, but it was tricky on such a road course.
We would make up seconds and then lost more coming up on slow
traffic being lapped."
"In
the money and on the podium - we're pretty happy with the result", declared Nick.
Forty-three
race boats registered for the first race in the APBA GMC Pro Grade
National Series, with television coverage on Fox Sports Network.

May
15th:
Over
30 race boats competed in the Performance and Outlaw Class races.
The unique aspect of the Performance Class racing is that the
top speed is capped and verified by a sealed onboard GPS.
The
Lucas Oil team entered the #7 boat as #P2-7 in Performance 2.
This class is limited to a maximum speed of 99.9 mph. The challenge
is to select the propellers and gear ratios such that this speed
is never eclipsed.
"This
really shifts all the emphasis to driving skills", said Nigel Hook, "although lets
not take anything away from the Throttleman who has to make sure
we get the most acceleration and speed without getting a penalty
for exceeding the limit for the class". At the end of the race the #P2-7 Lucas
Oil came closest to the mark recording 99.8 mph. The next closest
competitor was over two miles per hour off the target.
Fox
Sports Network interviewed Nigel specifically on the unique configuration
of the #7 race boat. "Lucas
Oil has always been recognized for their innovation on the leading
edge of technology and this boat is no exception", said Nigel.

"Utilizing
the Weismann surface drives and transmissions we are able to mount
both engines facing each other in the boat. This neutralizes the
immense torque of the Mercury 525 Racing Engines and also allows
the engines to sit a foot lower in the boat compared to the competition,
drastically improving handling and safety."

Weismann debuts
in ProFwd Drag Racing!
We've
ventured into yet another form of racing, and we've teamed up
with Shaun Carlson and Rob Miller. These two men are responsible
for some of the fastest front wheel drive drag cars ever made.
Shaun was first into the 9's, then first into the 8's. And last
year Shaun was expected to be the first into the 7's, but unfortunately,
he wasn't running a Weismann.

95%
of Shaun's passes last year either started or ended in transmission
failure! It just so happened that we were present at his last
failure and by coincidence, Steve Rice's Funny Bike was there
for exhibition. Once Shaun and Rob talked with Steve and Chip
Ellis about the success they have had with our transmissions,
it was clear that it was time for a radical solution. That was
November 2003.
By
Christmas the transmission design was done and machining started
in the new year. In April we were done and waiting on the engine.
It has been a frustrating wait, but car is now done and this past
weekend, the car made it's first pass ever in the second round
of qualifying.

Shaun
was in no hurry, as he made 2 straight clean passes before eventually
being taken out by Lisa Kubo in the first round of eliminations.
Shaun had Lisa out of the gate, but the clutch came in too hard,
and bogged the engine. He immediately clutched it, rolled it out,
then shifted through all the gears to record a very respectable
pass for it's third time out.
(W)
Lisa Kubo (APC Saturn Ion '03 Saturn) 0.388 8.121 182.92
(L) Shaun Carlson (Mopar '03 SRT-4) 0.347 9.737 162.92
Next
race is on June 12-13, the Inaugural Mopar NHRA Sport Compact
Nationals at Bandimere Speedway, Morrison, Colo.

(April
30th, 2004 ~ Richmond, Va.)
Travis Davis
get rolling and takes Richmond!
Just
like last year, Travis and John Davis had to sort out the bike
in the first two events. Then the 3rd race comes along, they qualify
in their favorite number 2 spot, and they leave winners.
But
it didn't come as easy as that. Travis first had to take out Perrie
Hollie. Tom Perry took out Robert Giard, who has the fastest pass
in qualifying with a 206.61 mph run. Arch-nemesis and #1 qualifier
Korry Hogan broke on his bye run.

In
the Semis, Korry got running again and beat Tom Perry as Travis
broke on his bye run! Then in the Finals against Korry, Korry
left first with a ,013 RT, while Travis was taking his time with
a .063 RT.
Korry
broke as Travis was hauled him in, then Travis starting loosing
the engine at the 1000 foot mark. He held on as the engine came
apart underneath him and still got the win light with a 6.838
s pass at 197.16 mph!

(April
25th, 2004 ~ Lake Havasu, Nv.)
Predator has
MK IIIs for claws now!
It
is no surprise to everyone running the Poker Run circuit that
Gary Smith's '40 Skater is still the fastest boat on West Coast
waters.
What
did surprise everyone is that he is the fastest with a pair of
Weismann MKIII outdrives!

In
the first Poker Run of the year Gary started last, caught up to
the boats, slowly picked his way through them, then ran away.
But didn't win the Poker hand - you never do.

The
next run, the biggest one of the year at Havasu with 120 boats,
Gary opened it up to 158 mph, blew off all the other boats and
collected a winning hand!

(Jan.
31st, 2004 ~ Anaheim, Ca.)
Weismann debuts
in 125cc Supercross!
Travis
Preston came close to pulling off a maiden win for our gears in
his Honda 125cc bike in the main event. After getting tangled
up in the first turn traffic jam, Travis emerged in 4th place.
He made quick work of Brock Sellards on the first lap and set
out after the leading Kawasakis of Stephane Roncada and Ivan Tedesco.
By lap three Travis was right behind them.

On
lap 12, Travis inched ever closer and Tedesco, feeling the pressure,
made his move on Roncada. Travis then easily passed Roncada on
the next lap and set out after Tedesco. Tedesco had to deal with
traffic, and Travis was right on his tail.
As
Ivan passed a slower bike, Travis tried to follow, but the slower
bike got into Travis' way and blocked him enough to give Ivan
breathing room. Travis was not able to make a move in the final
2 laps, and he finished 2nd behind the Kawasaki.
It
was an exciting race and a great debut for our gears in Supercross!
With our help the Amsoil Honda of Travis Preston finally has what
he needs to compete for the reminder of the season against the
Kawasakis.
