The first 6 Speed in Funny Bike history in the hands of Mark Rendeluk qualifies #1 for the first time at the World Finals!
In the far lane, Mark Rendeluk, #1 qualifier for the Pro Open Class at the Man Cup World Finals!
Last year Mark Rendeluk and Chris Wedman battled the track and the track took out 5 rear tires in 5 passes... whole chucks of rubber were being ripped from the tire carcass. They ran out of tires that weekend.
This year everyone else was having tire problems while Mark, with his 11 tires in stock, wasn't having any tire issue. He was having high speed wiggle issues each time he got into 5th and each time he had to back out of the throttle some to catch the bike.
It's exceedingly scaring to have a bike wobble at 200 mph! He did hold on for one pass to set the quickest and fastest Funny Bike pass of the weekend.
The tire issues for most of the Funny Bike field and some of the Top Fuel bikes, coupled with a major crash that was tire related in the Top Fuel class, caused the riders to rethink things and it was unanimously agreed upon to cancel the final rounds in the Funny Bike class.
The riders, and rightly so, were not willing to risk their necks like the rider that went down. That rider had changed to a radial tire to try to get around the tire problems and that didn't work either.

Mark Rendeluk and Chris Wedman chose to play it safe and come back another day. The top three in the class split up the purse 3 way.
The quest for the first sub 6 second pass will have to wait until next year.
