Reg Cook's Wauria 1, piloted by "Kiwi Steve" (white shirt) set a new the World Record at an average speed of 260.3 mph over two passes!
Wauria 1 uses a modified Weismann B2T Underdrive coupled to a Weismann 8 Speed Semi-Automatic "Quickshift" Transaxle. The Synergy 2L V8 revs at 14,000 rpm, so the Underdrive was used to gear down the revs before the 8 Speed.

Check out the return run by clicking on this picture. Around the 7 second mark, you can hear the "Quickshift" shift into 8th gear.
This is the same Liner Reg used last year to break a different record with a different engine. It is still front wheel drive.
On hand to help the New Zealander's throughout the week was Chris Wakula and Pat's son Roberto Weismann.

Roberto is the 4th generation Weismann cutting his teeth in the business. He was in charge of all the data collecting and analyzing during Speed Week.
Getting ready for the first shakedown run of the new Wairua 1.
"No clue why I shot this. It was nearly dead silent, everyone on edge, including me. Pulled out my phone and took one photo, put it back & went back to full attention mode. Never said a word." - Wakula
Team Vesco brought out the revamped Turbinator II with a new 4WD drivetrain designed by Pat and Roberto Weismann. The team set a top speed of 396 mph while shaking down the Liner.
Several issues unrelated to our drivetrain crept up over the week and they didn't go any faster. They will be back next month to attempt to break 500 mph with this Liner.

Original Factory Chrysler Shelby mechanics Steve Hope and Steve Harvey were at Bonneville again to take their shot at setting some records.
The 755 speedster has a Weismann 4 Speed Transaxle designed for the Shelby Can-Am racecars by Chris Weismann back in the late '80s. Still going strong, we have made taller ratios for them over the years to help them pursue their quest.

This seemingly ordinary car is packaged with a prototype 4WD concept Pete Weismann invented for Shelby during our stint with Chrysler.
The innovative concept changed the SUV world when it was copied by Toyota and later Subaru. Better known now as the RAV4, Pete's novel idea was how to turn a FWD car into a 4WD with a simple addition of a center diff power take off mounted directly to the FWD transaxle. Thus a car company could promote the 2WD first, then produce the 4WD later without changing anything. The car also has a Weismann Locker inside the rear end.
