The Weismann UnLocker wins the Baja 1000... again!
A Ford Bronco DR (Desert Racer), equipped with the Weismann UnLocker has won the 57th Baja 1000 on it's first try.
This is the second time the Weismann UnLocker has won the iconic race, the first was 4 years ago with Paul Horschel's Ultra4.
The grueling race is the ultimate test for vehicles and drivers. Brad Lovell piloted the race truck with the help of two other drivers to the checkered flag.
This is the third race win for the truck in as many races this year. The first was the Norra 1000, the second was the Vegas to Reno 400, and now the crown jewel, the Baja 1000!
In 1971 and 1972, Parnelli Jones won the Baja 1000 with a Weismann Locker in the famous Olympia Ford Bronco. Parnelli also won the Baja 500 and the Mint 400 in Miss OLY.
In initial testing of the prototype DR without the UnLocker, the team quickly found out they were in trouble and had to find a solution fast.
Thankfully Curt Le Duc was the test driver and with his prior racing experience with the Weismann UnLocker in his Pro4 race truck, the solution was simple... he told the team they needed a Weismann "Gizmo".
Curt had always called it a "Gizmo" because it was a mechanical device he had never seen before, and he couldn't explain how it worked; but he knew it worked.
It worked so well that Ford has Built 55 Bronco DR race trucks, all with the Weismann UnLocker as standard equipment.

The Weismann UnLocker is a unique device that inhibits shock loads that break the front ring gear and pinion or any other front drive line components instantly and without loss; whether from the front wheels hitting obstacles or from landing on the front wheels.
We have placed the Weismann UnLocker in the front wheel hubs, in the front differentials, and in 4WD transfer cases. For the Bronco DR, the UnLocker is a stand alone unit that bolts externally to the transfer case, on the output to the front differential.

Congratulations to Brad Lovell and his team. Congratulations to Dan and Kevin Huseman for the race prep of the truck.
